MAC Jazz Camp

With Temple Jazz Professors Jake Kelberman & Chris Oatts

Grades 8 - 12

June 19 to June 23, 9AM - 3PM At the MAC - 11 E State St, Media, PA

Building on their overwhelmingly successful MAC Youth After Jazz Class, Temple University Jazz Professors, Jake Kelberman (guitar) and Chris Oatts (saxophone) are offering an exciting week-long immersive Jazz Camp at the Media Arts Center from June 19th to June 23rd.

Daily instruction will include topics in Jazz History and Appreciation, Music Theory and Analysis, Jazz Improvisation and Aural Skills, and an Introduction to Music Recording and Production. Students will have the opportunity to rehearse daily in a small ensemble and to participate in open-mic jam sessions with their peers and faculty. Culminating in a final public concert, participating students will have a primer in the fundamentals of jazz performance to prepare them for future performances, college auditions, and a lifelong love of America’s musical heritage.

Open to instrumentalists and vocalists from 8th-12th grade.

The Summer Jazz Camp session is $400 and discounted $15 for MAC members. You can become a member here. A sibling discount of $50 off of the combined registration fee is also offered for each registered sibling in the same session.

Scholarships are available upon request. Please email Amy Chapkovich, Director of Educational Programs, at education@mediaartscouncil.org.
