Have you ever wondered what it’s like to direct a movie, write a script, act in front of a camera & then put it all together? If so, MAC’s highly popular film production class is for you! Since 2012, over 200 hundred students & 50 films films later, MACFI continues to teaches high schoolers how to tell meaningful stories through the art of filmmaking.
Students, their families & their friends are invited to walk the red carpet & enjoy a screening of their completed films on the big screen at MAC’s annual Media Film Festival.
Grades 9-12.
This program includes classroom time, independent work & separate days for filming & production as well as additional days & sites for filming. Some classes are held virtually.

About The Instructors
Teaching Artist Darryl Ridgeway graduated from Lincoln University with a B. S. Degree in Business Administration in 1989. Ridgeway started his professional career in sales while simultaneously assisting his father in his entertainment company, Blue Diamond Entertainment Group (BDEG). This company produced a show called “Artist Discovery” in which Ridgeway worked as assistant producer. Artist Discovery aired Billboards’ top 100 hit music videos. From this experience, he created a show called Hip Hop Vibes which showcased up-and-coming rap artists while showing Billboards’ top 100 rap videos. In 1998 Ridgeway embarked on a career in managing and producing local R&B and rap groups. Through his experiences and connections, Ridgeway graduated to film projects. Within the last decade, Ridgeway’s film industry career has led down several paths, from raising capital and co-producing to business management and development. Ridgeway served on various executive boards in the entertainment and business sectors. Most notables were the Multicultural Film Alliance of Greater Philadelphia Alliance, which created a platform for independent Film professionals to network to find jobs.
HEZEKIAH L. LEWIS III (Writer/Director/Producer/Professor) is an alumnus of UCLA's MFA film directing program. Lewis attended Villanova University on a football scholarship. As a communication major, he co-founded and served as artistic director for the Villanova Television Station along with directing numerous documentaries and short narratives. He was offered a Presidential Fellowship to attend Villanova's graduate school where he completed a Master's degree in Theatre. At UCLA, Hezekiah completed various short films and documentaries promoting social change and awareness. He received numerous awards for his outstanding efforts, which commemorate and recognize Hezekiah for his dedication, and passion for filmmaking.

For Multi-Week Classes
Class registration cancelled two weeks or more before the start date of the class will be fully refunded, minus a 20% administration fee. Class registrations cancelled between 7-14 days before the class will receive a MAC gift card worth the amount of the class, minus a 20% administration fee.
There will be no refunds or credits of any kind for withdrawals less than 7 days prior to a class.
For One-Time Workshops
Withdrawals from a workshop more than 7 days prior to the start of a workshop will receive a full refund, minus a 20% administration fee. Withdrawals 7 to 4 days prior to the start date of a workshop will receive a MAC gift card worth the amount of the course, minus a 20% administration fee. There will be no refunds or credits of any kind for withdrawals 3 days prior and up to the day of a workshop. MAC gift cards are valid for one year from the issue date.
MAC Class Cancellations
MAC reserves the right to cancel or postpone any program or activity due to insufficient enrollment, faculty availability, or any other unforeseen circumstance. If MAC cancels a class or workshop, tuition payment will be refunded in full to the student.
