Apples And Oranges: Two Different Voices

Dates of the show: Aug 4-Aug 27

Opening reception date: Aug 4, 5-7pm

We [David T Miller and Steven Nau] were invited by Maryanne Buschini to exhibit artwork together. Although flattering, it was initially a curious concept since our work did not appear to have an apparent relationship to each other than existing under the umbrella of visual art. Mutual conversations explored ideas such as color, composition and self expression. We decided to celebrate the fact that our work represents two different voices singing in the chorus of artistic expression.

About the artists:

Steven Nau currently spends time between Philadelphia and Maine. He has worked many years as a freelance illustrator and an art teacher at CAPA High School in Philadelphia. Each experience informs his painting in terms of technique, art history and storytelling.

“I am fascinated by the work of the early modernists, especially Cubism and Futurism. Anything fragmented, reassembled and fast moving relates to how I view the world today. This may be similar to how many "western" artists communicated the changes they witnessed in their own world at the early part of the twentieth century. These days illustrative storytelling enables me to explore the lives of people both past and present in my painting.”

David T Miller lives in Ambler, PA, after spending much of his life in Texas. He recently retired after a long career as a high school art teacher.

“My work consists of materials and paint assembled with no purpose other than to make something that wasn’t there before. Social media has provided me with an audience and opportunities that I wouldn’t have otherwise. I have exhibited nationally and internationally while making some great friends in the process.”
