The Media Arts Council works to further its mission to actively support local artists and integrate a wide range of arts into the life of the entire community.

April Second Saturday - 4/12/14
Featured Band: Urban Drawl

2nd Saturday April 12th, 2014

This 2nd Saturday, the Media Arts Council is thrilled to announce that Urban Drawl will be returning to the 2nd Saturday main stage at Franklin Mint Federal credit Union.  Urban Drawl bowled over audiences last year with their charismatic, inspired blend of bluegrass, rhythm & blues, folk and pop. Anchored by airtight vocal harmonies and rich, inventive percussion, this band of friends from Northwest Philadelphia cranks out joyous roots music with grace and gusto. Swing with the sway of the standup bass, the crisp interplay of mandolin and guitar, and the magic rhythm of truly singular percussion. Not to miss!

April's children's activity will celebrate spring by creating felt sculptures and pictures. Led by Christine Iovannicci of “Art For Everyone”, wet felting is combined with soapy water and rubbing motions with your hands to bind the wool fibers together. Even the youngest kids can create simple balls, butterflies, or caterpillars.  Older youth can make a felted picture of a sun, flower, clouds, or other simple design.  Seeing the fluffy wool transform into an object is magical, so come give it a try!

2nd Saturday Arts Stroll in Media, PA

On the 2nd Saturday of every month, over 30 businesses on and around State Street in Media stay open late as part of a free arts event. From 6:00 to 9:00 pm, shops, galleries and cafes host local musicians or display the work of local artists. Visitors can stroll the friendly streets of Media and use M.A.C. 2nd Saturday map to find music, art and participating shops.

2nd Saturday creates opportunities for local artists and musicians to share their talents. The Media Arts Council regularly holds gallery openings and special events as a part of 2nd Saturday.

2nd Saturday is a fantastic event for a date, for the family, or to go out with friends! The Arts Stroll is free of charge but requires the continued support of our sponsors, participating businesses, and gracious donors to make it happen. Please contribute today to the Media Arts Council.
