Media Arts Council Film Festival

2nd Annual
Media Arts Council Film Festival

February 27 & 28, 2009
7:00pm-10:00pm

Media Community Center @ Borough Hall
301 N. Jackson St., Media, PA

$10 each night
(box office opens 1 hour before)

The six-hour festival features the creative talent of many area filmmakers and opens each night with a short film about the Borough of Media becoming the first Fair Trade town in America. Rich Hoffman of Coyopa Productions created two colorful documentaries that pay a wonderful tribute to Everybody's Hometown. Fair Trade Concert will premier on Saturday night and includes beautiful footage of the Fair Trade Festival that was held in Media in September 2008.

Feature film The Wages of Spin will give viewers an inside look at American Bandstand, a favorite television show of the 50s and 60s. The show was much more than a group of Philadelphia teenagers dancing to the latest music. Philadelphia had a thriving music industry producing the most popular music of the time. The film explores the payola scandal involving Dick Clark and his music empire.

A festival favorite is The Institute of Séance, a quirky tongue-in-cheek tale of murder and the occult that harkens back to the silent film era. Media resident Kevin Corcoran shot this black & white film on location in the Delaware County Institute of Science located on Veterans Square. Mark Kochanowicz, the producer of the Main Line Film Festival, will show his new release titled Breath of Twilight. The Seduction of Eve, a psychological thriller, is local filmmaker Jeff Bellantine’s latest film.
