The Media Arts Council will host the 5th Annual Bastille Day celebration in downtown Media on Saturday, July 9th, 6-10:30pm. State Street will be closed to traffic to allow exciting theatrical performances, live music, dancing, and more. This is a free, family-friendly event.
Visitors will experience arts attractions and activities focused around French-themed villages. Village themes include artists, children’s activities, and community. Many organizations as well as artists from the Media area and beyond will participate in this community event.

6:00 – 7:00 SPCA Pit Bull Adoption Show
6:00 – 7:40 Live bands at Steven Stones and Selene Co-op
6:15 Fair Trade Awards
6:45-7:15 Reenactment of the Storming of Bastille, by the Hedgerow Theater
7:15-8:20 Live bands at Steven Stones and Selene Co-op
7:45-8:20 Dancing Lessons in front of Main Stage
8:20-8:30 Bastille Day Committee Announcements and Honorary Chair Introduction
8:30-10:00 Featured Performance: Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco Roadrunners
Artist features include plein air painters, silk dying, and silk screening. Children’s activities include tye-dying, necklace painting, and face painting. Some restaurants will offer outdoor dining.
The Media Theater will feature French films in honor of Bastille Day, showing "Les Aventures de TinTin" (a children’s cartoon) at 2pm and "Au Revoir les Enfants" at 7:30.
Honorary chairpersons are Guillaume Perrin and Allen Lane from Sun Center Studio.
Bastille Day event sponsors are La Belle Epoque Wine Bistro and La Colombe Torrefaction, as well as the 2nd Saturday presenting sponsor, Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union.
M.A.C. celebrates Bastille Day as an historic event symbolic of the freedom that paved the way for, among other things, artistic expression. The Bastille Day celebration will offer attendees of all ages a unique experience filled with art, music and historical attractions. More than 40 businesses participate, along with numerous artists, musicians, and performers. This will be a memorable independence celebration for the entire family to enjoy.
