Bastille Day - July 12, 2014 - Second Saturday

Media Arts Council presents the Eiffel Tower and more at Media’s Bastille Day celebration! The Eiffel Tower will again appear in Veterans Square on Media’s Bastille Day celebration July 12th. Standing 26 feet high the Eiffel Tower, sculpted by artist Bob Read, was one of the highlights of last year's Bastille Day celebration. It is a marvel to see this impressive and graceful piece of sculpture on State Street. In France on the night of Bastille Day children carry lanterns through the streets of Paris. This year children will be able to carry lanterns down State Street. Paper lanterns will be at Veterans Square where the Media Arts Council will have its Village de Artistes. Other activities in the Village de Artistes will be face painting with a French flair, musicians, various street performers, and exhibits by local artists

Rotary Club of Media, PA Contributes to the Media Youth Film Initiative

Media, PA –May 2, 2014
The Rotary Club of Media under the leadership of Courtney Ballauer and Chris Schwartz contributed $1600 to the Media Youth Film Initiative for the purchase of much-needed film equipment and scholarships. Judy Fowler, executive director of the Media Arts Council, received this generous gift at the weekly Rotary meeting.
As the president of Rotary, Courtney Ballauer wanted to support arts and music education. Several months ago when Fowler spoke of the Rotary Club Ballauer was impressed with the MyFi program and how it got high school students involved with all aspects of filmmaking. MyFi is a joint program of Media Arts Council and Media Youth Center taught by Hezekiah Lewis, associate professor of communications at Villanova University. Films from the program were featured at the Media Film Festival held at the Media Theatre in April.

the mix up.  We're looking forward to seeing you at the historic Media Theatre on April 4 and 5 for a great film festival."
