Local Experts Lead Architectural Tour of Media
The Media Arts Council will sponsor an architectural walking tour of Media on Sunday, June 14 at 2pm.
Beginning at the Delaware County Courthouse, the tour will include a discussion of architectural styles and the history and development of Media, highlighting such buildings as the Delaware County Institute of Science (one of the oldest public buildings in the Borough, constructed in 1867), the PNC Bank building (built in 1899 in French Renaissance Revival architecture), Broomall House (historic home of Judge John M. Broomall, county judge, Civil War Congressman, and friend of Abraham Lincoln), and many other buildings of the Victorian era and 20th century. The tour will be lead by experienced guides from the former Foundation for Architecture, including Mary Anne Eves, a member of one of the original families of Media.
The architectural tour will conclude with a wine and cheese reception at Borough Hall, which was originally constructed in 1918 as a post office and still has original fireplaces among its features.
Tickets will be available for $20 beginning June 3 at Coffee Club and Earth & State on State Street in Media. They will also be available at the Media Arts & Crafts Show on June 7th at the MAC table, and at the Second Saturday Arts Stroll, June 13th at the MAC table on State Street. Spaces are limited.
This event is sponsored by local Media law firms Marcus & Hoffman, P.C.; and Gallagher, Schoenfeld, Surkin, Chupein & DeMis, P.C.
